Night-Fishing-Walleye One of the best time to go walleye fishing at night is in the early spring period. Walleyes are very active at night at this time of year in all bodies of water that have walleye and pickerel populations. I want to share with you some early spring hot spots that may help you on your next walleye night fishing trip.

 The old and reliable trolling technique works well at night also. You will need to target areas that are less then 12ft deep at night. One very good area to work is rock rubble areas that are close to vegetation. Look for areas that connect with the shore line and have rock and rubble as well as vegitation these will very good spots to target for your night fishing for walleye trips. Put main lake areas with these conditions down on your priority list after you have exhausted the shore line connected areas.

 This time of year is best to catch walleye for you shoreline casters . A good way to attract some fish to you is to use a underwater fishing light which is sometimes called a submerged fishing light. When you find a likely casting spot anchor your light to the bottom with the bulb standing strait up. Now move away from the light at least 100ft and start your casting at the edges of the lights beam. You can do this after the underwater fishing light has been submerged for about 20 minutes. Underwater fishing lights or submerged light sources are great attractors of bait fish and other walleye food sources. Live baits like large fathead minnows work well to catch walleye. Do not use night crawlers and leeches this time of year.

 The best places to go to catch walleye at night and you are fishing from the shore are areas that are rock and rubble in areas that the walleye typically spawn. Look for areas with rock and rubble that also have vegetation present. These areas will hold natural forage such as walleye minnows that the walleye will be feeding on. You will want to fish on merging points that offer good vegitation and rock and rubble. Here again if you find a good spot you can set up a submerged fishing light. You should also look for hard bottom current areas which will concentrate walleyes at night during the early spring period. areas that have vegitation and narrow into smaller fisheries that offer hard bottom and current are good places to go shoreline fishing. This could be a hot spot for a night fishing set up using your submerged fishing light source.
